The Gift of Time

December 23, 2013

So, I began writing this post about a week ago… things in life have happened like they tend to, whether we like it or not (good or bad) and it almost makes me not want to write about this now or to change some things. I won’t do that though. I will write about it still the best I can.

We Can’t Get It Back

The gift of time is something we can never get back. The older I get, the more of a realization this becomes. A close friend talks about why would he ever want to waste his time on anything that isn’t meaningful or that isn’t going to add to his life versus taking something away from it. I think that’s a really great perspective!

I can remember my daughter as an infant and I would constantly think to myself, “enjoy this moment and never forget, because this time will go by fast.” Even with understanding that as much as I could back then, it has still seemed to fly by. Now my baby girl is almost an adult and ready to spread her wings!

Life Is Too Short

Life really is too short to put up with drama, neglect, abuse or much negativity. People who drag you down, drain you and don’t lift you up are not worth your time. I’m sorry to say, but that includes family as well.

If you ever feel like you have to beg to be loved or cared for, then you’re in the wrong relationship. You shouldn’t have to beg for anyone’s attention. People make time for the things that are most important to them and actions speak louder than words. If you are not on someone’s priority list, then maybe it’s time to move on. If the attention you’re getting is that of manipulation, justification, blame, guilt or control then that isn’t a healthy relationship to be in either.

Time is something we can never get back.
Time may be one of the greatest gifts you can give another person.
Life is too short to live without love, passion and joy!
Life is too short to live in fear or to keep piling up regrets.
The gift of time we’ve been given has an expiration date.

*This post didn’t go the way I originally intended although, another one came out of it that I will share tomorrow. I realize it’s more a rambling of thoughts as I process some things, but thought I’d share it anyways.
