50 Shades of Crazy! (my online dating profile)

December 14, 2014

As promised… This is how my online dating profile read, as seen on eHarmony during the past two years, which is the most elaborate and descriptive site I’ve been on.

The One Thing I Am Most Passionate About

I am the most passionate about life, helping others, unconditional love, the truth and being a mother. I am the most comfortable and energized when outdoors, especially by the water, so I love waterfalls and playing in a warm rain. Thunderstorms are amazing and I’ll never say no to cuddling and massages in front of a warm fire. Deepening my relationship with Christ and creating relationships with others is what life’s all about though.

The Most Important Thing I Am Looking For In A Person Is

I’m seeking a man who will pray with me, is a strong yet humble leader, loves romance, and has a passion for life and the great outdoors. I truly wish to marry my best friend and confidant. Communication, mutual respect and honesty are a must. We should encourage and edify one another in our goals, dreams and personal relationships with God. Treat me well and I will be your biggest fan, never waivering in my loyalty. I need someone who is my equal, can appreciate what I have to offer, and who is intellectually stimulating. If you like to dance, sing, play guitar or enjoy photography it’s a bonus. Let’s be playful, romantic, curious and adventurous together! My two greatest love languages are tied ~ quality time and physical affection. I’m just enough naughty to be nice, as are you ;)

The First Thing People Notice About Me

I have been told with some consistently that it’s how I wear Jesus and that I am a woman after God’s own heart. Personally, I think you’ll notice my smile and open heart towards others first, as I am usually the one who walks into a room and is hugging and greeting everyone right away. I have always been a people person, having an ability to meet others where they’re at, and helping them feel at ease. I get fired up to share my faith and play a supporting role very well!

The Most Influential Person In My Life Has Been

So many people have influenced me throughout my life thus far. However, my daughter and a mentor from my teenage years remain the most influential.

The Last Book I Read and Enjoyed

Mostly self help and christian based ~ Love & Respect, Men Are From Mars Women Are From Venus (again!), & The Shack. I love Tom Clancy, John Grisham and yes, I even read the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy (horribly written!)

I Typically Spend My Leisure Time

Photographing the sites, hiking, rock climbing, camping, fishing, the great outdoors, beach, martial arts, movies, music, dancing, anything creative or artistic, museums, theater, reading, writing, spending time with friends, activities with my teen, charities, fundraisers, volunteering…  P.S. if you have children I ask that they are older like mine please, as I’m not interested in starting over. Instead, I look forward to “us” time as I’ve never really had that before.

The Three Things Which I Am Most Thankful For

  1. Being a mother ~ I feel extremely blessed that God has entrusted her to my care all these years.
  2. Life/Jesus ~ I have survived a lot, as we each have a story to tell.
  3. Relationships/Friends ~ sharing life experiences, communication and emotional intimacy.

The One Thing I Wish More People Would Notice About Me

I can be shy at first although, you probably won’t know it. Please don’t mistake my kindness for weakness, as I wear my heart on my sleeve and am transparent, because I also have a deep passion for the truth and fighting for what is right. Also, I have been a single mom for 16 of my daughters 18 years. Finally, while I wouldn’t wish my past upon my worst enemy, I wouldn’t change it even if I could, because its made me the woman I am today. I do not wear the scars of a victim ~ instead, they are my battle wounds of survival. God really can turn every tragedy into a triumph for His glory if we let Him.

A Little More About Me

While I love a life of fun and adventure I still need stability and consistency. There really isn’t much I don’t enjoy and I’ll try most anything once. I truly love simple pleasures and am low maintenance although, I can appreciate the finer things as well. I am just as comfortable dressed up for a night on the town as I am four wheeling in the mud. While finances have never been what’s most important, they certainly are necessary. I believe God gives us blessings so we may bless others in return. I really do dream of foreign travel with my partner and camera in hand some day! Btw, I am Swedish, Norwegian and Italian.

Hi Jessie, you are very beautiful and very personable. I have not seen your posts for a little bit so seeing your post and wonderful pictures brightened my day. Thank you for being articulate, yes, communication is paramount. Having Jesus to cling to is the cornerstone to being real, humble, and honest. I am transparent with my feelings, although having boot mouth happens, better to taste grit than to be withholding. Thank you for lighting up life with your posts and graceful nature. May God bless you richly.

I truly had fun reading your profile, Jessie. You are attractive not only in your physical appearance, but also because of your soul. It radiates. You’re intelligent, funny, and inspirational…just a really neat person all-around :) I would imagine you’ve had all kinds of suitors vying for your attention, but as we both know, it takes insight and dedication to find “the one”, especially given our past experiences.

I truly hope you find your perfect friend and partner…and best of luck on your donation drive. I hope to be able to participate in the very near future.

Best wishes for a successful 2015…whatever that may look like for you :)

Your kind and warm thoughts are very much appreciated Kim ~ thank you so much! Your words put a huge smile on my face :) And you would be correct in all assumptions. I will not give up, but there are plenty of things which make it more of a challenge – yes. I’m learning that’s OK though, because it just means things will be that much greater when it does finally happen or come my way! Big hugs to you beautiful and wishing you a very Happy New Year!!

This is really cool Jessie, never been on a dating site. Is every profile this detailed?

Loved how you do have your emphasis on your Christian faith…..so important, because it is a very much part of you. And the 1st line in “The Most Important Thing I Am Looking For” being ” being “seeking a man who will pray with you”. I really LOVE this.

Jessie, as the earlier comment mentions, you are beautiful. Getting to know you particularly from your blog, and now your profile, you also have such a beautiful heart, where God shines through you.

Thank you for being you, please keep your Godly standards. The man the Lord brings your way will be one EXTREMELY fortunate fellow.

    Blessings my friend,

      Hi Carl,

No, most people’s are nothing like this, lol! Perhaps that’s why I got so many responses (or at least that’s what I was told ~ that I portrayed substance and transparency.) And in like, the very few men’s profiles that were more detailed are what got my attention as well. Other dating sites I was on didn’t ask for so much information and were much more simplified, so then I basically just scaled all this down to fit.

AndI would get emails from guys who complained that my profile was intimidating, or I seemed too articulate/outgoing/assertive/honest or strong in character ~ which, I am, lol! So, I need someone who can challenge and handle me too :) Someone who is my “equal” although, that doesn’t mean we have to be alike in every way either. Hopefully we balance one another out and thrive off each other’s personality, gifts, and talents. But, I learned to continue adjusting my profile, as time went on, to include specifics in an attempt to weed out some of the jerks.

Glad you enjoyed reading it Carl and I appreciate the compliments. Take care and many blessings to you as well!

        Hi Jessie,

What a wonderful reply my friend. You are a blessing!

“Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart” Psalm 37:3-4

        I know He will.
