Where is the FABULOUS in 40?

I can’t believe how hard it is to pen my thoughts after a need to be silent for awhile again. Don’t you just hate the disruption of a good groove?

Remember…
Things aren’t always as they seem.

Therefore, please forgive any rambling of words (here or in the near future) as an attempt to reclaim and rediscover my seemingly lost yet, not forgotten, tiny piece of cyber space with a prayer that it might still offer someone out there a bit of hope and inspiration.

Happy Birthday To Me!

So, I turned 41 this past month and just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for all of your wonderful emails, texts, and messages filled with lovely thoughts and wishes for my special day. You sure know how to make a woman feel loved and cared for!

Thank you for the love on my birthday!

Somehow, I let the “Fabulous and 40” post slip through the cracks last year too, but that’s OK, because it was one of the most challenging periods yet. Even though I always try to welcome challenges as opportunities for change and growth, sometimes they can have a tendency to diminish the “fabulous” part, lol!

So, what’ next…? I’ve gotten a lot of inquiries over the past couple of months again wondering just that. I’m able to remain in between L.A. and San Diego now and really enjoy it, so our transition back to the south side from Santa Barbara has made that part even better. My daughter is still working and going to college FT as a criminal justice major, so I’m very proud of her! The only other settled piece thus far though, is that I’m never moving away from California again. This will forever be my home base… At least stateside, that is. I will always have a traveling spirit, but I’ve also lived in over 40 states now and this is the best place to be outside of those explorations. I can’t wait to hit international waters next though, because I haven’t “officially” been out of the country yet.

Also, my appearance probably changed as many times as our circumstances did again this year, so I’m happy that it’s 100% my decision again (if we’re connected on FB you got to see a lot more.) I’m aiming for the most natural look possible now, especially where hair color is concerned, because it’s s-c-r-e-a-m-i-n-g for a break! Here’s a quick peek…

So, where did the fabulous in 40 go…? I’m not about to believe that it’s eluded me yet, as I’ve still got quite a few years left in this decade to find it!

Professionally, know that I’m still an author, speaker and photographer (who’s forever writing a book) but I’ve also been doing a lot more traveling as a personal assistant this year too. And even though I’m no longer working undercover, I have been dabbling with the consulting and PI side a bit. While I’ve been taking on more private entities and possibly making a transition, I’ve been assisting mostly military and government officials still, because for as much as I try to quit being involved with different agencies, I’ve come to realize that it may just never happen, lol!

So, it’s still a struggle to tie all these things together somehow into one cohesive package, or to find that one thing I become so passionate about that I’m willing to permanently retire all the rest. That being said, I have not been able to fly (or obviously write) much these past few months, because of things that were going on again. Very simply, that also means that donations are down so we could really use some more support please. The majority of our income still comes from the PayPal button at the bottom of this site and we’d greatly appreciate any referrals or financial assistance you may feel led to give. I’ve still got a goal to redo the websites so they become even better sources of revenue for us than they have been (now, if I just knew a savvy tech guy or web designer!)

Meanwhile, my friends… I can’t explain it, but something about being in your forties makes you want to be in the best shape of your life, achieve more than you ever dreamed possible, and not waste a single day. I’m simply beyond words for the gratitude I’ve felt to be back here and for the opportunities which await us. The rest will come as it should!

It’ starts at 49. You’ll reflect on the past eight years and see it’s just a drop in the old bucket. That’s when you try to catch up. At 61 the bucket is doing ok but the list gets longer as you go. Every birthday you’ll reflect and the list just never stops getting longer (especially when the kids go out on their own. Happy birthday(ssssssssssssssss)ETC

Hmmm… I’ve always believed in living your dreams and thus far, with the exception of international travel, I have done just that. I plan on always keeping the list small by ‘doing’ and continuing to live everyday to its fullest :)

I identify with your frustration at getting back in the groove. Maybe it has something to do with being 40. I just turned last month, and my groove suddenly became awkward. It’s still there, beneath the creaks and groans, but boy do I ever have to work to coax it.
